It’s a Boy! High school senior, that is.

Ha! (And I hope he doesn’t hate me for using that title – I couldn’t resist!)

This senior from McNary is the only high school senior BOY I’ve photographed for portraits since the Class of 2011 portrait season began for Daveen Photography this past July.

It was very fun and a great way to spend a morning. I don’t think he minded too much, either, because:

1. He was smiling and talking seemed to be enjoying himself.
2. He agreed to things with a good attitude. (At least that’s I think that it what the phrase, “it’s tight” means!)

Rain. Rain. Beautiful Day.

What do you do when it is pouring down rain and you’ve had a senior portrait session scheduled since early summer? You trust that it will turn out beautifully in spite of the elements and bring along an umbrella to hold over you hoping that your darling hair, make-up, and clothes don’t get wet.:)FYI, I’m talking about this lovely senior from McNary, not me – my hair was quite drenched by the end of our session . . .

Fabulous hair is by Hope Martinez at Salon 124 in Keizer.

Little Bit of Boho-Chic

One thing I adore about the Class of 2011 high school seniors that I have been working with this year is the unique sense of style and self that each one has.

I found this quote while searching for a definition of Boho-Chic, which the young woman below totally personifies:

When we’re talking about fashion, the word Bohemian is used to convey an attitude and style that describes a free-spirited, independent frame of mind.

A little bit of boho-chic showed in her attitude, her cool style sensabilities, and her independent spirit . . .

A Bright Light.

Thank you to all the beautiful senior girls and their mothers who scheduled their sessions early this year – some booked for this summer LAST fall and this last spring to reserve their session time in July/August/September. We’ve really been able to take advantage of the lovely light and focus on THEM, thanks to their advance prep with clothing choices and our phone consults before the session.

It makes 100% difference when the little details are taken care of in the days before we even begin their session. I know it is sometimes feels like a bit of pressure leading up to their session day, but it has paid off big time. These girls’ loveliness, both inside and out, is able to speak for itself. So, thank you to Daveen Photography seniors. You are in a class all your own. It’s truly been a pleasure!

Once again, this South High School senior was no exception to the rule . . . we had a wonderful time at her session and it really shows. The little details were taken care of before hand, so that her bright, happy personality could shine through.

Make-up by Mya Rios (who is fabulous!)

A Warm Glow

Is it just me, or are Salem, Oregon high school seniors in a class of their own this year? Involved in their community and schools, great plans for the future, and quite beautiful, both inside and out.

This Class of 2011 high school senior was no exception to the rule . . . Thanks to both she and her mom for braving the warmth of the evening! (And thanks to mom, for the bottle of water!)
