The Field in Autumn

I’m short on words today, but wanted to share three darling little ones from a portrait session in the field a couple of days ago . . . I’m pretty sure mom will be happy - and I hope she is! This family came all the way from Parker, Colorado, and scheduled in a session in the midst of their vacation. Mom told me that she has oohed and aahed over so many of the precious kiddos on the Daveen Photography blog in the past and she couldn’t wait to have her own featured.

I have to admit that I couldn’t wait to feature a few of my favorites, as well. It was hard to choose, though, mom, so be forewarned. There may be tears when you view your slideshow. :)

Family Fun - but not Family Portraits

When my friend/client here (otherwise known as the “Mom with the Big Brown Eyes” and the “Mom of the Kids with the Big Brown Eyes” by my boys) called me to schedule her annual fall session, this was our exchange:

Mom with the Big Brown Eyes: “Daveen, I know you don’t like taking family portraits,” (how is that for client education????) “but, we want them.”

Me: “Okay, but don’t expect me to be happy about doing them.” (just kidding - I was! I just like to sound tough)

Mom with the Kids with the Big Brown Eyes: “Oh, I don’t. Here’s my credit card number.” (She knew enough about me to know that I like to talk tough, but really, deep down, I just like to play hard to get.)

With that exchange now out in the open, let me say that I do really enjoy capturing family fun and interaction and that it is the only version of family portraiture you’ll get from Daveen Photography. So, if you are one of my remaining 2008 clients who have a family session scheduled with me, don’t be let the conversation above scare you!!! :) And, relax already, because it’s going to be fun for both of us!

On a side note: please notice the very well thought out and very pleasing clothing choices. I know Mom with the Kids with the Big Brown Eyes stressed worried alot thought about it, and I wouldn’t have been doing my job if she hadn’t. (I have been know to be very mean firm when it comes to choosing the right clothes for  portrait sessions. It just wouldn’t be right if all a parent had to to worry about was whether or not Big Brown Eyes would act natural - that would be too easy!)

Why no more family portraits as part of the sneak peek? They are being saved for the big Christmas Card surprise - Mom with the Big Brown Eyes has a list longer than anyone I know!

P.S. Family sessions are generally scheduled with only former clients, but I have been known to be cajoled into doing them if the inquiring client begs really hard.

Autumn Days and a Farmer’s Life | Silverton Photographer

This little famer boy spent this morning exploring “his” land out in the Mt. Angel/Silverton area and I had the chance hear his detailed explanations while getting in his roaming way with my camera.

At the ripe old age of nineteen months, said explaniations consisted entirely of the word “no” and some random babblings about his tractor, the flowers, and his doggie.

I better stop the story there, even though it continues . . .

Have a beautiful Autumn day,

In the Garden (and a barn) | Salem Senior Photography

I had a wonderful morning with this Senior from McNary High (go Class of ‘09!) on Thursday. It rained a teeny tiny bit, but not enough to deter us from getting some amazing images of this great young woman. She really wanted flowers involved somehow in her Senior Portrait session, so I obliged and found some in the midst of the Autumn foilage. Thank goodness we live in the beautiful Willamette Valley!

:)

Again.

I had a session on Monday morning with one of my most recognizable (and sweetest) little clients. Look at those precious little tootsies. Sigh.

We used the same chair that we used over 18 months ago for her one year sesssion in a few. (Can you find it on my site?)

and her “puppy”, Zoey (okay, I’m obviously using the term very loosely):
